July 8 - Mt. Tamalpais Loop.
We'll descend from
Rock Springs to the Pan Toll Ranger Station, then hike over to the Dip Sea
Trail, out to Stinson Beach and back up Matt Davis. Approximately 11 miles.
Meet at 10:00 at the Rock Springs Parking Lot. Hike leaves at 10:15.
Directions: Take
the Stinson Beach/Hwy 1 exit from 101. After 1 mile, turn left at stoplight
(staying on Hwy 1). After 2.5 miles, turn right onto Panoramic Hwy. At the
Pantoll Ranger Station, take a right up the mountain approx. 1 mile to Rock
Spring parking lot.

July 15 – Mt. Tamalpais; Zig Zag to Mountain
Theatre and back via Rock Springs
This is a fairly strenuous hike of about 13 miles
from Mill Valley up the Zig Zag trail (steep), down into Muir Woods then up via
Bootjack (steep) to Mt. Theater and back Rock Springs and Tenderfoot to Mill
Valley. Bring plenty of water, lunch,
layered clothing, a hat and sunscreen. Meet in front of the Old Mill Elementary
School on Throckmorton Avenue in Mill Valley at 9:30 a.m. Hike starts at 9:45
a.m.
Directions: From Hwy 101 take the East Blithedale exit. Go west on East Blithedale towards downtown Mill Valley. Turn left on Throckmorton and drive a few blocks to the Old Mill Elementary School, which will be on your right. For information, contact Adele at [email protected]. Rain cancels.
August 12 – Mt. Tamalpais; Dipsea
and Muir Woods
This hike is
approximately 12 miles. We’ll start at Mt. Home, walk past the Tourist Club,
take the Dipsea toward the ocean, turn and go up Steep Ravine, descend into
Muir Woods then ascend back up to Mt. Home. Meets at 9:30 a.m., leaves at 9:45
a.m.
Directions: Take
the Stinson Beach/Hwy 1 exit from 101. After 1 mile, turn left at stoplight
(staying on Hwy 1). After 2.5 miles, turn right onto Panoramic Hwy and go 3
miles to the Mountain Home Inn and Restaurant. It will be on your right. The
parking lot is to your left. It will take about 30 minutes to get to the
meeting spot from the GG Bridge.

August 19 – Mt. Tamalpais; Two
Peaks Hike
This hike will start at the Greene Park parking lot by Phoenix Lake at
9:30 a.m. We will take Tucker up to
East Peak Fire trail. We will Ascend
East peak then go over to West Peak via Elderidge Grade and other secret
trails. From West Peak we will go down to Rifle Camp, then down Willow, and
Kent, cross Hidden Lake and out onto Rock Springs Lagunitas Lake Rd and
eventually back to Phoenix Lake.
Estimated mileage is 12 miles with a lot of elevation changes.
Directions to Greene Park: From
101 take Sir Francis Drake Blvd through Larkspur and Kentfield. After you pass the college of Marin, hang a
left onto Lagunitas Rd in Ross. This
dead ends in the park. If there are
parking problems we will handle them at 9:30 and leave a little later.

September 9 – Mt. Tamalpais; Simmons Trail, Cataract, Matt Davis and
Steep Ravine on Mt. Tamalpais
On this hike
we’ll start at Rock Springs, take the Simmons Trail past Barth’s Retreat and
then Cataract to Willow Camp Trail, to Coastal and Matt Davis to the
beach. Then we’ll take Steep Ravine
back to Pantoll, and Old Mine back to the Rock Springs parking lot. This hike is approximately 13 miles with a
few steep stretches. Bring plenty of
water, lunch, layered clothing, a hat and sunscreen. Meet at Rock Springs
Parking Lot above Pantoll Ranger Station. Hike meets at 9:45 a.m., leaves at
10:00 a.m.

October 14 – Mt. Tamalpais;
Deer Park to Cataract Falls; Mt. Tamalpais
From Deer Park we will get from Boy Scout Junction to Five Points, then
down Elliot Road and small trails to Bon Tempe lake. We will walk along Alpine
lake to the falls then back High Marsh, Hidden Lake Trail and Rock Springs
Lagunitas Road. From Lagunitas we will
take Fish Gulch and Hidden Meadow back through Six Points and back to Deer
Park. Total mileage is approximately 15
and might be reduced slightly upon groups request.
Directions:
From US 101 in Marin County exit San Anselmo/Sir Francis Drake. Drive about five miles west on Sir Francis
Drake to the town of Fairfax. Turn left on Pastori, make first right onto
Broadway, and turn left on Bolinas. Drive 0.5 miles, then turn left onto
Porteous Ave. The road almost immediately splits (this junction seems to be
unsigned). Bear right to remain on Porteous. Drive 0.5 miles to trailhead at
the end of the road.

November 4 - Pt. Reyes; North Beach
This hike will
take us along a long beautiful beach. We’ll meet at the Bear Valley Visitor
Center Parking Lot in Pt. Reyes, where we will carpool to the “Point Reyes
Beach North” parking lot. We’ll hike south along the beach. Then continuing back to our cars. This will
be a moderate hike, approximately 10-12 miles. Lunch with a fabulous view.
Bring plenty of water as there is no water available there. Bring layers as it
may be very foggy and windy.
Directions: From
US 101 in Marin County, exit onto Shoreline Highway, pass Stinson Beach, pass
Bolinas, and continue on this road through Olema and soon after, make a left
hand turn onto Bear Valley Rd. You will soon see the sign for the Bear Valley
Visitor Center on your left. Take this to the parking lot. We will meet in
front of the actual Visitor Center.

November 18th - Pt. Reyes; Five Brooks to
Alamere Falls
This hike will
take through beautiful fir trees as well as along a beautiful coast line with a
beautiful waterfall. We’ll meet at the Five Brooks parking. We’ll begin our
hike at the Greenpicker Trail, then crossing onto Ridge Trail, down Alamea
Trail to Old Out Road Trail, continuing down to Coastal Trail with a stop at
Alamere Falls for lunch. Then back to Coastal Trail, and up Crystal Lake Trail,
to Lake Ranch Trail, and back to Ridge Trail intersection ~with a descend down
Bolema Trail and back to Five Brooks parking lot. This will be a moderate to strenuous hike, approximately 15
miles. Bring plenty of water as there is no water available there. Bring layers
as it may be very foggy and windy. Rain Cancels. We will meet at Five Brooks
Parking Lot at 9:30 am and leave by 9:45am.
(Sorry, no dogs allowed on these trails.)

(soon after a little bridge over a stream) that says Five Brooks and will be on
