The Capellians proved to be a negotiating team. Their Admiral Srurli wished verification of Terran combat prowess. After some adroit maneuvering by the Guardian Quiasar, a contest of strength was agreed to. Seven champions from both sides were picked. The Capellians agreed to cede the rights to earth if beaten. Of the Hegemony team, 5 were Capellian soldiers, one appeared to be a Brounan warrior, and the last hailed from Jers (planet 07303, sector 927).
For Earth three Guardians and four members of Art were picked. Arachne, with her emfol and IQ of 6,000, the same IQ as 6,000 Terran postal workers; Kamikaze, Guzon, and Magnet Master (to deal with Capellian sidearms) were the ART choices. From the Guardians, the great Quiasar, the attractive looking Crocodile, who turned out to have the diplomatic skills of a grape, and Shadow Knight, who possessed less social skills than Crocodile.
The battle proved rather straightforward and simple. Magnet Master snared several weapons from the Capellians, rendering them ineffective. Guzon easily pounded on a Capellian before being stunned by the Brounan. Kamikaze swiftly downed three more Capellian warriors. Arachne downed the Jers, though only after it brought the feeble minded Shadow Knight under its control. The Guardians insisted on allowing the Crocodile to finish off the last opponent, the Brounan. I joined the Chess Knights in leaving to get popcorn from a vendor one mile away. We easily returned before the Crocodile moved to down the Brounan.
