Mission Log: The Guardians went to Chess to introduce the new team. Crutch and Magnet Master, already known to Chess, did not go. The team met the new Chess Liaison, called the King's Bishop. They talked briefly before the Bishop gave them a potential mission. There was a scheduled meeting with an informant in the Church of Peace and Harmony. Entropy took a few seconds to remember. The Church of Peace and Harmony was the front for an Alliance member, the vampire.
The New Guardians accepted the assignment. They were to go to the Caroline biker bar in Virginia. A Guardian needed to walk up to the bartender and say; "I have something to confess". The meeting was in two hours. The Guardians traveled to the area and Hematite made an aerial surveillance. Most Guardians stayed in the Crocpot, the Guardian's VW van. Cypher, Entropy, and Shadow Knight walked in. Shadow Knight moved to a corner table while Cypher and Entropy went up to the bartender. There, Cypher was unfortunately carded. Only 20 years old, Cypher was required to leave.
Entropy gave the code phrase and was referred to the "Priest", a man playing pool nearby. Entropy walked to the blue shirted man and repeated the codephrase. Entropy's confession was that he didn't like the church. The priest agreed with his assessment. A lightning bolt that struck down the priest interrupted the conversation. Shadow Knight moved into backup position, but was unable to spot the attacker. Entropy could not see the attacker either, or intercept the lightning attacks that continued to strike. Shadow Knight grabbed the priest and left. Entropy challenged the attacker, presuming that the assassin was an Alliance member. The attacker claimed not to know Entropy or wish conflict with him, and turned invisible and left.
The priest was hurt, but not near death. He told the Guardians that "Intercrime was after the church". He also gave them an address. Shadow Knight carefully examined the priest and his possessions for clues. He found an interesting tattoo on the priest, a combination of a watchful eye and the Celtic cross. The Guardians took the priest to a hospital/safe house. The address was that of a warehouse, owned by Global industries. Research revealed that Global industries was suspected of dabbling in the black market.
The Guardians surveyed the area. Hematite did a flyby. Shadow Knight mapped out the interior with his darkness senses. The remainder of the Guardians waited nearby in the Crocpot, Crocodile's upgraded VW van. Shadow Knight vibrated into the back of the warehouse. Suddenly, a van pulled up to the loading dock. Intercrime power infantry and assassins rushed out, entering the building. The workers inside the warehouse fought back. The priest's words were now understood. The Alliance and Intercrime were involved in a turf war.
Hematite cut off any Intercrime retreat, blasting the power infantry guarding the loading doors. Shadow Knight blasted at the power infantry inside. Portal opened a gateway to the back of the warehouse and the Guardians rushed in. Entropy instructed the Guardians to concentrate on Intercrime, as they appeared to be the stronger enemy. Entropy warned the Guardians that he would be attacking the Alliance, since they were his archfoes.
Hematite won the battle at the door then disabled the Intercrime vehicle, finally shoving it into the loading door to block off escape. The Alliance workers proved to be more formidable then expected. Augmented by drugs, they knocked out Cypher and held off the assassins. Power Infantry, however, knocked out several workers and attacked the Guardians, as did more of the Alliance workers. Entropy and Shadow Knight fought their way up to the balcony, taking out the Alliance guards. Eventually, as the leaders from the criminal organizations fell, some of the criminals attempted to flee. They were chased down. No one escaped.
Follow-up:
Clearly Intercrime has not slowed down since the loss of one of their bases. This is the first Alliance activity we have seen since our return. Global industries should be watched, as well as the church of peace and harmony.
Conclusions:
The new team fought well. Cypher needs to wait in the background, studying his opposition and striking from the shadows. Once we have finalized tactics, his wingman might be able to help.
