Months passed as the Guardians established themselves. Three Guardians went to the opening of the Hall of Modern Heroes in the Cogan museum. There they saw a variety of powerful famous superheroes and other elite guests. The speech making was interrupted by a large group of brown shirt rioters. A small group of paranormals appeared as an explosion hit the area. Fearing an assassination attempt the Guardians counterattacked the supervillians, aided by many other heroes, notably Spectre and Gigantor. Other Guardians secured the area and protected the guests, including Homer Grimsby.
Part 2:
The raid on the opening turned out to be a ruse. A small group of supervillians penetrated the museum and stole dimensional technology. One, Tomahawk, was mysteriously converted to the side of good by an artifact. Justice Force used his information to attack TOTEM, the organization responsible. Two Guardians joined the Justice Force assault, Crocodile and Zap. The joint effort was a failure. The attackers were captured and sedated. They woke strapped to nuclear missiles. Each missile was launched to a different area. Crocodile was never found and Zap only escaped with difficulty.
Follow-up and Conclusions:
This defeat hurt the Guardians even more than Justice Force. TOTEM took genetic material and created clones, which were used against the Guardians later. Joint expeditions generally don't work for the Guardians. This was proven soon after, in an even greater disaster.
