Guardian File #DP1094
Codename: Dinner at a five monk restaurant
Guardians: (civilian guise) Doctor Desist, Entropy, Quiasar, Shadow Knight, White Leopard
Antagonists: multiple Buddhist masters, most in astral form
Mission Log
After our prolonged quarantine listening to Croc's "I had a dream" speech, the Guardians wanted a night out on the town. The Guardians, in civilian guise, met at a nearby restaurant. Near the end of the main course, a man, dressed in eastern garb, walked through the restaurant to our table, drawing several glances as he did so.
A member of a Tibetan order, he talked to Karpo Sik and then introduced himself to each of us. All of us were suspicious, especially Shadow Knight. Suddenly, he spoke of 'ending pretense'. Two monks suddenly appeared, as did two more ghostly monks. His anger overriding his common sense, SK fired at the monks. White Leopard left, but was mentally attacked before escaping. She ran, but saw a pit around her, and 'fell' into it. As the restaurant cleared of civilians, JJ smashed through the window and grabbed her. JJ was then attacked and waxed. Entropy maneuvered out of SK cover darkness and attempted to help, with only minor results. Desist joined the outside fight, attempting to mind control the unseen assailants. He countered the emotional attack on her mentally.
Meanwhile, SK dropped the darkness in the (empty) restaurant. Entropy and SK fire at the monks, doing some damage and disruption. They withdraw. White Leopard, Desist, and Quiasar leave in one boat. Shadow Knight and Entropy are left behind, but soon take the other boat. Amy is left at the restaurant to talk to the police.
FOLLOW-UP:
We have several problems. Primary problem is that we were clearly the focus of the disturbance. Amy Johnson may say something indiscreet. JJ should talk to her immediately. Chess members should make sure that any investigation keeps us out of the limelight.
We should also develop cover stories to explain how we met each other. In the future, careful use of darkness and other powers should be used to distance us from any problems. Starting a fight in a busy restaurant is not a good idea. White Leopard must decide how to handle her particular problem. We can assume that these monks were either Chinese collaborators or militant Dalhi Llama fanatics. Either way, we must assume that they may cause future trouble. Fortunately, they have limited powers and understanding of Western culture.
CONCLUSIONS:
We need additional training in tactics. We must be careful about secret ID's and secret/public overlap.
Guardian File: #DR?1094
Codename: Attacked by Force
Guardians: Doctor Desist, Entropy, Quiasar, Shadow Knight, White Leopard (disabled)
Antagonists: Hunter-Retriever Force Robots (energy blasts, paralysis rays, strength)
Mission Log
Fleeing from the battle of the restaurant, the first ship, Quiasar's, arrives at the base. Quiasar senses danger, and so quickly leaves the heavily armed and defended base to go to the center of the river crying, "Victim here, victim here". The second ship, containing Shadow Knight and Entropy, arrive at the base. After a brief discussion, the two decide to rendezvous with Quiasar before entering the base and safety.
The two boats meet in the river, but are interrupted by Force hunter retriever robots parachuting from above. Two robots attack Desist's boat, one attacks JJ's boat. Desist flies into the air and attacks, injuring the first robot. On Desist's ship, the battle is harder. Entropy injures one robot but both SK and Entropy are heavily injured by energy blasts. The two decide to abandon ship rather than risk capture.
Meanwhile, Quiasar uses his force field to throw the robot out of his boat. Quiasar is then struck down by a paralysis beam from the other boat. Desist, seeing the battle go against the Guardians, boards Quiasar's boat and drives away. The two robots pick up their companion, open the ice chest, drive away and drink beer.
Reaching land, Shadow Knight and Entropy meet a 'helpful driver' that volunteers to take them in his jeep. Recognizing the man as MR. MAGNUM, Entropy declines the offer. Not inclined for combat, the two allow him to depart in peace.
Follow-up:
FORCE has proven to be more resourceful than anticipated. Instead of being driven out of the US, he has devised a moderately effective unit to fight us. The minutes of the 11/1/94 meeting discuss the options for countering this threat. A decisive victory of FORCE may have the desired effect of ending his threat in the United States.
