I received a communiqué from Chess about the Alliance, a group that I had encountered in the past. Chess had intercepted a message about a potential defector that was in danger. Knowing my interest, Chess allowed me to handle the situation. I flew to France to talk to the authorities there. I found that Julian, the potential defector was flying to America on a suspected Alliance plane. The Surete had given me a fake ID and purchased a ticket for me. I boarded the plane. Due to airport security and the situation, the only weapon I could have was a short wooden bo. Julian was the only other passenger on the plane. There was only one pilot. I engaged Julian in some conversation, but kept fairly general. I did not want to take any risks yet.
The pilot engaged the autopilot and came out. He calmly informed Julian that it was time for him to depart the plane. I attempted to defuse the situation, only to find out that my true identity was known. Not only that, but the entire situation had been set up for the Alliance to dispose of me. The assassin was a master of bojutso, and scored the first hit, knocking me back. I saw several stars, but managed to defend myself from his next blow. Finally, I connected, sending him flying back. Following up quickly, I knocked him out. Julian was confused, but accepted my hurried explanations. I was able to land the plane with the help of traffic control.
Julian proved very helpful and eager to defect. I learned that Eli Senovis, Alliance scientist, was eager to defect. He was guarded by a genetically designed guard on an island. I went immediately to Guardian base for help. Unfortunately, only Desist was even in and he was busy. I went on my own despite my injuries. Torvak was a giant furry humanoid. I shot him from ambush, then met him as he charged. Despite his strength and speed, I was able to avoid him and his giant cudgel. I landed several blows before downing him. Eli had been working on dimensional bridging, a major Alliance concern. I know enough to leave such things alone. I withdrew with Eli, alerting the authorities of the situation.
The Alliance is increasing in activity. Any Guardian who encounters Alliance activity such alert me immediately.
