FanPix for September, 2002

Anachronistic by today's standards, Burlington Northern's vennerable fleet of SD-9s found refguge in places like Pasco, WA. Commonly paired up for use on the large yard's hump, the SD's refused to abdicate after being displaced by SD38-2/Slug sets in the late 1990's. They are still highly regarded by crews for use as trimmer power working the back sides of the hump's bowl tracks, and also were commonly seen on locals like this one switching the downtown Pasco industrial area. Equally uncommon is the caboose that brought up the markers on this late spring day. Though once a familiar sight in the Pasco yards, 6113 has since been retired with motor problems.
