FanPix for June, 2002

For a very brief period, the F-9PH locomotives that now power the Spirit of Washington Dinner Train were used in freight service. After an extended storage, the units were given the once-over by Washington Central Railroad mechanics, then given a few shakedown runs to make sure all was in order before being sent to Renton. Here, we see the pair, ex-MARC 84 and 82, on the point of their second and final trip on the Ellensburg Local. The train is headed west through Selah Gap, which separates the towns of Yakima and Selah, WA. Photo by Jody Moore. October, 1996.
