FanPix for June, 2003

Closed by slides and other problems, Portland and Western's former SP&S Astoria Branch recently returned fully to service to host special passenger trains hosted by the Oregon Department of Transportation in honor of the Lewis and Clark expedition's bicentennial. The second of those trains, loaded with special dignitaries, is seen crossing the swing span at Blind Slough on its way to Astoria. The train consists of ex-BCRail Budd RDCs 31, 10 and 11. The service to Astoria will continue through Sept. 2. Photo by Jody Moore. May 17, 2003.
