“Jen I can’t stand this!” Joey grumbled pulling clothes out of the washing machine, into the basket on the floor, with one hand.
“Joey calm down, you will find out soon enough, let him have his fun!” Jen moved the phone on her shoulder trying to balance it better while she made cookies.
“You know don’t you! You have seen the Witter test in action haven’t you,” Joey replied on the other end of the phone, the silence only confirmed her suspicion, “How can I be the only one that doesn’t know about this and I’m practically married to the guy!”
“Is there something you’re not telling me, Jo?” Jen grinned thinking about how clueless Joey was sometimes.
“What? No. I was just meaning I have known him a lot longer then you!” Joey let out a long breath in frustration. Jen was meant to be helping her but all she was really doing was making the situation worse.
“Sure Jo!” Jen laughed into her end, which made Joey groan again.
“Would you quit changing the subject. You ain’t helping!”
“Sorry but I can’t tell you anything but wait till tomorrow. I’m not at liberty to say anything more!”
“Thanks Jen, you’re a great friend!” Joey rolled her eyes, even though she knew Jen couldn’t see her.
“Hey,”
“What?” Joey kicked the basket of washing over towards the drying as she talked, before putting certain articles of clothing in the dryer.
“Nothing, do you need anything to be brought tomorrow, when we come over?” Jen signed changing the subject.
“Wine and a sledge hammer!”
“I get the wine but why a sledge hammer?”
“So I can kill Pacey, for not telling me about this!”
“You don’t really want to do that in front of everyone do you?”
“I suppose not!”
“The only person that would find that funny is Audrey anyway!”
“Maybe Audrey will have better advice about this?” Joey signed turning the nobs on the drying and pushing the start button.
“Or Andie?” Jen suggested, knowing full well Joey would hate the idea.
“Don’t go there woman!” Joey turned and walked into the living, straight to the couch.
“Touché!” Jen paused a moment before continuing, “But you do realise she would be the best option on this subject, seeing as they were married nearly 15 years!”
“Don’t remind me!” Joey signed sitting down.
“You really don’t like Andie do you?”
“It’s more the fact that she hates me!”
“She doesn’t hate you!”
“She dislikes me immensely, then.”
“No, she just hates that you have what she’s always wanted!”
“Pacey.” Joey smiled just thinking about him.
“Yep!”
“That’s kind of sad isn’t it? We can’t be friends because we want the same guy!”
“Sounds familiar doesn’t it?”
“Ok, us fighting over Dawson is so not the same thing Jen!” Joey noticed rain had started to fall outside.
“How?”
“We were two fifteen year olds fighting over a rather nerdy boy, we didn’t know any better. Andie and me are adults; we should be able to hold a civilized conversation. But every time she even looks my way she spits vermin in my face. Plus it’s just not in my nature to step down from a fight!”
“Don’t I know that!”
“Shut up, I’m just rather protective of the things I love!”
“As am I, but I don’t go round picking fights with people!”
“I don’t do that!”
“You might as well, with that tongue of yours!”
“I hate you sometimes!”
“You love me!”
“Yeah, Yeah! Look I gotta go, I’ll talk to you tomorrow okay!”
“Yeah, take care, bye!”
“Bye,” Joey said before hanging up the phone with a sign. Talking to Jen hadn’t helped in the slightest; it just made her more worried. Stretching as she got up again and put the phone back on the hook in the hallway. Joey looked around, it was six o’clock in the afternoon and the apartment was still empty. Pacey still at the restaurant having gone in a couple of hours earlier and the girls had yet to return. She thought of starting to make dinner, but she didn’t know when everyone would get back. Trying to think of something to occupy her time until the washing was done, the phone rang.
“Hello, Witter residences!” Joey said calmly inspecting the small crack in the wall near the phone and wandering how long it had been there.
“Hey Jo, it’s Pacey!” Pacey tried to slow the speed of his talking, so his excitement wouldn’t show but it didn’t seem to be working very well.
“Hey, what’s up?”
“Well you see-”
“Oh I don’t like the sound of that!” Joey signed realising she would be by herself for a lot longer.
“No, it’s nothing like that, it just-”
“It’s taking a lot longer then you thought it would and you were checking up on me!”
“Joey-”
“I know Pace, I have heard it a thousand times before. It’s alright!” Joey signed rubbing her finger along the crack.
“Jo, that’s not what I’m calling about!”
“It’s not?”
“No!” Pacey chuckled picturing her frown.
“Oh!”
“I was wandering if you could drop by the store and grab some milk on your way over here? We are nearly fresh out and it’s rather busy tonight!”
“Don’t you have stuff that could do that for you?” Joey questioned, thinking how out of the blue the question was.
“It’s like I said, rather busy tonight. You would be doing me a huge favour sweetheart!”
“You owe me big!” Joey groaned looking at the rain get heavier.
“I love you, you know that!” Pacey smiled giving the thumbs up to Annabelle that stood in the door way to the office of the restaurant.
“Yeah, Yeah. I’m on my way!” Joey hung up, signing. It’s would at least kill her boredom for a couple of hours.

Andie grumbled watching the rain getting heavier and the traffic not moving. Flipping the stations on the radio, trying to find something that was worth listening to, she found the news after awhile.
“I would avoid going out tonight,” the announcer said, “The weather is only going to get worst. Traffic is bad all over and moving slowly because of little visibility. Avoid all major roads, three accidents already have occurred-” Andie groaned shouting it off. Putting her wide screen wipers on as fast as they would go she still found it hard to see. She failed to see a car that just turned the corner was sliding and swerving towards her at alarming rate. Seeing it at the last minute, knowing she couldn’t do anything to move or stop it from hitting her, she screamed.
