“The smile on your face that says, ‘I got lucky last night’. What gives?”
“Nothing gives and I do not smile like that!” I shrugged as we come to stand next to mine and Andie’s locker, “Andie tell her I don’t have a smile like that?” I opened my locker biting down on my lip, giving her time to answer. Jen just nodded her head towards Andie.
“Well, I think Jen might not be entirely right but you do have that look about you,” I glared at her, but it just didn’t look right when I couldn’t stop smiling.
“Told ya,” Jen leaned against the spare locker between the two of ours.
“So do tell Jo, coz you can’t smile like that and not talk about it!” Andie shrugged pulling another book out of her book bag and placing it in her locker.
“Exactly my point, Andie and I talk about everything. We can’t be friends Joey if you don’t tell us what’s behind that smile of yours.” Jen grinned and Andie’s eyes widened, so I knew they were only being half serious about it but I wasn’t going to get out of it any time soon.
“Well,” I contemplated telling them and where to start, as I looked from one girl to the next.
“Hey how are the lovely ladies today?” I turned and smiled further when I saw Pacey there. He winked at me, as he wrapped an arm across my shoulder and kissed my temple, “Potter are you ready for class?” I was saved for the time being.
“No she isn’t, she was about to tell us something important!” Andie frowned as she closed her locker, Jen nodded in agreement.
“I can meet you in class if it’s important?”
“It’s not that important, it can wait!” I closed my locker as well as both girls frowned.
“Well there you go, bye Blondie’s!” Pacey chuckled as we walked away.
“I think they suspect something!” I giggled as I reached up to hold hand that was sat across my shoulders.
“When you smile like you are now they are bound to Jo.” We walked into the class room and towards the back, found our seats.
“I’m not smiling any different then I usually do, am I?” I frowned getting out my appropriate books.
“It’s not that you’re smiling any different, it’s that you haven’t stopped smiling that’s got them suspecting something!”
“I had a bad day yesterday I think I'm eligible for a day of pure happiness!” I shrugged turning in my seat to look at him.
“It wasn’t all bad was it?” He leaned closer to me. I could hear the first bell for class off in the distance.
“It wasn’t all bad, no!” I bit my lip as he leaned even closer to me.
“I’m just,” he trailed off looking down at my mouth before meeting my eyes again.
“Just,” I mumbled as we kissed slowly, unaware of the classroom surroundings. Someone cleared their thought as we broke apart; I bit my lip as we turned our heads to the intruder.
“I know this biology class but I’m the teacher here, so would you be so kind as to leave that outside the classroom next time and pay attention.”
“Sorry miss!” Pacey apologized for the both of us. I stupidly just nodded my head. When she had walked back to the front of the class, he turned back to me, whispering, “You know it’s really all your fault!”
“My fault, you kissed me,” I whispered back.
“When you’re smiling like you are, it’s really hard not to kiss you!” He smiled as I let his words sink in. Now I really couldn’t stop smiling.

I was relieved when lunchtime came because I hadn’t seen Pacey since this morning and I hadn’t yet given anything away to my new friends. I wanted to know what he thought before we told anyone anything. I placed the last of my books in my locker with a sign.
“Hey you,” Pacey cooed coming up beside me, “how was your morning?”
“Pretty normal, I wanted to talk to you!” I closed my locker shut facing him.
“Won’t you the one saying talking gets us into trouble or was it not talking that gets us into trouble, I can’t remember.” I laughed, “Is it really important or can it wait coz there serving French fries in the cafeteria today and if we want some we need to be near the front of the queue.” I shrugged; I guess it wasn’t that important.
“I suppose it can wait!” Pacey grabbed my hand practically pulling me down the hallway. “You really do like French fries huh?” I said as we stood in line for the lunch. I had grabbed just a salad and a bottle of water but Pacey had gone all out on the greasy food group.
“I promise to share okay!” He winked as we went in search of a table. Finding the rest of the gang sitting at a table over by one of the window, we headed over to them. “Hey you guys room for two more?” Andie mumbled yes mid-mouthful.
“Andie, that’s disgusting!” Jack frowned in disgust have looked over at the wrong time and seen her lunch mid-chew. She swallowed her mouthful throwing a playful glare at her brother. We sat down side by side.
“So how did that Spanish test go Jen?” I asked the first thing that came to my head.
“Well it went,” She smirked but didn’t say anymore.
“Meaning you passed or failed?” Dawson spoke up as he looked over at her.
“51% a pretty appalling pass, but a pass none the less!” She smiled as she looked across the table at Pacey and I, “But what I really want to know is what’s up with Pacey and Joey?” I could feel myself redden slightly at the question, now I really wished I had talked to Pacey before lunch.
“Yeah I heard there was a kissing instance in Miss Jeffery’s biology class this morning,” Jack grinned as Pacey glared at him in silence.
“Wow where did you hear that from?” Andie piped up, generally interested now.
“Henry heard it from James that heard it from Anne that heard it from Hannah that’s in their class, apparently Miss Jeffery’s caught them kissing and told them off!” Jack and Andie both giggled, Dawson laughed.
“Jack I’m not surprised you’re gay, you gossip like a little school girl.” Jen turned to her friend, smirking.
“So who did you hear it from then Jen?” Jack questioned, apparently both Pacey and I were invisible.
“I hadn’t actually heard it from anyone Jackers, I was just going to point out the fact they haven’t stopped holding hands since they walked in here.” Everyone stared down at own intertwined fingers on the table, I hadn’t even noticed that we still were.
“Is there something you aren’t telling us?” Jack asked leaning forward on the table. Pacey shrugged, man of few words.
“Maybe Pacey’s the reason why Joey can’t stop smiling.” Andie suggested to Jen who nodded in return.
“They have spent quite a lot of time together lately, more than usual!” Jen shrugged as she looked between us again.
“Does explain a lot, especially the bitch fight last week,” Jack grinned knowing they had unraveled our little secret.
“I did apologize for that didn’t I?” Jen frowned, I don’t think she remember her teary apology afterwards.
“You did,” I spoke up as I felt Pacey squeeze my hand.
“Where was I when all this happened and why wasn’t I notified sooner?” Dawson frowned looking at Pacey for the answer.
“You were probably in fantasyland again!” Jack grinned as did Jen.
“Dawson your obvious to everything around you, this could have been going on for weeks and you didn’t know about it!” Andie smiled over at Dawson, to soften the blow.
“I’m not that obvious!” He threw a playful glare back in her direction.
“Okay enough guys,” Pacey spoke up as I stayed silent, “Dawson really do live in a fantasy world half the time but this as you guys so kindly put it, only happened yesterday!” Everyone went quite after his little speech and I smiled over at him, wanting to kiss him, but probably wasn’t a good idea in front of the new friends, so I squeezed his hand and went back to eating my lunch.
