Daryl Meets Toby Keith!
One of the biggest thrills of Daryl's life was the night he got to meet Toby Keith.  Daryl and his dad talked to a local disc jockey and the man was so impressed with Daryl's knowledge of country music at such a young age.  Daryl told him that they were going to the concert and the disc jockey told Daryl to keep trying to win tickets and back stage passes, but if he didn't win, then he said that he'd make sure Daryl got to go backstage and meet Toby, even if he had to take him himself!  Sure enough, the night of the concert, the disc jockey (Jon Prell at 99.5 WKDQ) met them outside the arena and gave them two meet and greet passes.  The rules were:  no individual photos, but you could take a group picture, and you could each have one thing autographed.  Poor Dakota had to sit alone waiting at the concert while Dad and Dakota got to meet Toby.  After the photo was taken and it was Daryl's turn, he got his shirt autographed (the one he's wearing in the photo).  Dad got a picture autographed for Dakota.  When Daryl got up to Toby, he noticed Daryl had Toby's signature hat pin on his cowboy hat.  He said "I like your hat, man."  Daryl said "Thanks".  Then Toby stuck out his fist and said "Bust me one there", and Daryl hit his fist with his fist.  (He TOUCHED Toby!!!).  Daryl was looking away when Toby said "I wanna talk about me", and without missing a beat, Daryl turnes around, faces him, and says "How do ya like ME now?"  We had a friend make a shadow box for Daryl (Thanks, Billy!) and Daryl has his autographed shirt in there, a photo like the one above, his ticket stub and meet and greet pass in there.  It's truly something Daryl will never forget.  He says next, he wants to meet Alan Jackson because Alan does all his meet and greets on his tour bus!!!
