On October 13 <Friday the 13th!> I was driving my "new" 1964 Galaxie Fastback to work. It was perhaps the 4th time I had driven this car any serious distance. I was cut off by a 1999 Lincoln making a illegal left hand turn. The resulting damage can be seen above. Click on any picture for a much larger view of the damage. Considering I had only basic liability insurance I figured I was screwed.
I recieved a letter recently from the other partys insurance company. They have agreed to pay for the "value" of the car. When all was said and done I basically broke even, and got the car for nothing.
I want to take a moment to thank Mark Renolds for the time he took to send me a parts cost on official letter head. It was the sole information source they used when considering replacemnt parts costs. I also want to thank all the members whom have contacted me via E-Mail offering varoius parts and services to put this car back together. These 2 reasons alone have made me overjoyed at joining the Ford Galaxie Club. |
