| VIKING PITCHERS COMBINE FOR NO-HITTER IN SEASON OPENING WIN, 12-0 Sophomore Troy Batton and senior Jack Warner combined to throw a 5 inning no hitter against Manchester to open the season. Batton struck out 5 in three innings and Warner struck out 6 in two innings of relief. The offense was lead by freshman David Miller with 2 hits and 2 RBI. Others collecting hits were: Jackie Ginter (2B, RBI), Ross Eversman (2B, 2 RS), Garrett Lawrence (2B, 2 RS), Jack Warner (RBI), John Simmons (RBI), and Mote Andrews (RBI). VIKINGS IMPROVE TO 2-0 Freshman David Miller pitched 3 innings, allowing only 1 hit as the Vikings defeated Manchester 9-3. Jackie Ginter was 3-3, with 2 HR, a 2B, and 4 RBI. Matt Dunham also collected 3 hits and added 3 RBI. Mote Andrews and Jack Warner each had a hit and knocked in a run. The Vikings, ranked in the top five in the state, take on Landmark Christian, also ranked in the top five in the state, Tuesday at Pacelli beginning at 5:00. PHS DEFEATS LANDMARK CHRISTIAN Pacelli, ranked #3 in the state, defeated Landmark Christian 4-3. Troy Batton (2-0) scattered four hits throughout six innings before giving way to Jackie Ginter, who earned his first save of the year. Ginter, Matt Dunham, and John Simmons lead the offense with 2 hits apiece. Batton and Cain Fuller each added a double to round out the offense. WARNER TOSSES NO HITTER Senior Jack Warner threw a no-hitter, striking out 8, as the Vikings defeated Jordan 7-0. The offense collected 13 hits lead by: Jackie Ginter (3-3, 3B, RBI), Matt Dunham (2-4, 2B, RBI), Jack Warner (2-3, 2B), Chad Booth (2-4, RBI), Mote Andrews (1-2, RBI) and Cain Fuller (1-3, 2B). GINTER PITCHES PERFECT GAME Jackie Ginter threw a four inning perfect game, striking out 9, as the Vikings defeated Terrell County 18-0 in a region game. The Viking offense tied a school record with 5 HR. Jackie Ginter hit a grand slam and a three-run HR in the second inning. Freshman Cain Fuller also added a grand slam in the second inning. Senior Garrett Lawrence and sophomore Mote Andrews each added a three-run and solo homerun respectively. VIKINGS FALL TO BEAUREGARD Pacelli traveled to AAAA Beauregard, AL and lost 6-3. Troy Batton took the loss, despite scattering 6 hits and striking out 6. The offense was lead by Garrett Lawrence (2 hits), Matt Dunham (2 hits), and John Simmons (1 hit). MILLER TOSSES 1-HITTER Freshman David Miller tossed a 1-hitter, striking out 10, as the Vikings improved to 2-0 in the region by defeating Calhoun County 11-0. Troy Batton led the offense with a double and 2 run homerun. Matt Dunham had 2 hits, Miller helped himself with 3 hits and 3 RBI, Jackie Ginter collected 2 hits. Others collecting hits were Cain Fuller, John Simmons, Robert Wright, and Garrett Lawrence. VIKINGS WIN ON WALK-OFF SINGLE Freshman David Miller delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the 8th, as the Vikings defeated AAAA Northside-Columbus 7-6. Troy Batton picked up his 3rd win, relieving Jack Warner and Jackie Ginter (who struck out 5 in 5 innings). The offense pounded out 11 hits, led by Chad Booth (2 hits, including a solo HR), Troy Batton (2 hits, including a solo HR), and David Miller (2 hits and 2 RBI). Others collecting hits were: Jackie Ginter (2B), Garrett Lawrence (2B), Jack Warner, Cain Fuller, and John Simmons. The Vikings, ranked #2 in the state, improve to 7-1 (2-0 in the region). BATTON GETS FOURTH WIN Troy Batton went 5 innings, striking out 5, to get the win over Taylor County 10-7. The offense pounded out 12 hits, lead by Matt Dunham (3-5 with a 2B and 3 runs scored) and Jackie Ginter (3-4 with a HR and 3 RBI). Garrett Lawrence (2-3).
