PENS VS RANGERS
1 3
One of these days I'm gonna see the Pens win another game, it's just a matter of time.  My personal thoughts were that the Rangers outplayed the Pens early, and that just ended the game.  The debut of goalie Sebastien Caron was great, except for the fact that Aubin stunk in the 1st period.  Jonsson and Pushor looked horrible together, and seemed to get worse as the game went on.  Mario didn't play, the power play was horrendous.  After the game, I met Shean Donavan, Jan Hrdina, and Wayne Primeau, so thanks to them for staying out in the cold to sign stuff for a fan like me.
Stats
The Pens record coming into the game was 17-17-8 while the Rangers had a 16-22-7 record.  The Rangers starting line-up was Mike Dunham in net, Tom Poti and Joel Bouchard on defense, Mathew Barnaby at LW, Eric Lindros on RW, and Bobby Holik at C.  The Pens started JS Aubin in net, Marc Bergevin and Michal Rozsival on defense, Jan Hrdina at LW, Alexei Kovalev at RW, and Randy Robaitaille at C.  Petr Nedved scored the first goal of the game at 1:45 of the first period from Jamie Lundmark and Darius Kasparaitis.  Nedved struck again at 14:25 of the first from Vladmir Malakov and Eric Lindros.  Mathew Barnaby ended the first with a goal at 18:28 from Bobby Holik.  The only important news in the second was that JS Aubin was pulled at 0:00 of the 2nd for Sebastien Caron.  No one scored in the 2nd.  The 3rd period had Marty Straka score an unassisted goal at 13:41.  Penalty summary looked like this:  First Period:  Kovalev Tripping at 0:25- Lindros Boarding at 0:34- Kasparaitis Interference at 2:27- McKenna Roughing at 15:02  SECOND PERIOD Rozsival Cross Check at 6:20- McCarthy Hooking at 14:02- Rozsival Unsportsmanlike Conduct at 14:02- Lindros Interference at 14:23  THIRD PERIOD Moran Hooking at 10:18- Rozsival Elbow at 12:52- Bouchard Holding at 13:28.  Dunham stopped 26 of 27 shots.  Aubin stopped 8 of 11 shots. Caron stopped all 18 shots thrown his way.  Refs were Paul Devorski and Scott Zelkin.  Linesmen were Mark Pare and Derek Amell.  The 3rd Star was Sebastien Caron, the 2nd was Mike Dunham and the 1st star was Petr Nedved.
Notes
The Pens horrible first period did them in.....I got no free stuff....Caron played great.....Canadiens sat behind me, yes, that's right Canadiens. It was perhaps the most excruciating thing ever.  I never want any Canadiens sitting by me again, unless I'm in Canada......Lots of people left the game early, and to those people, I say, Never go to a Pens game again.  If your gonna pay money, stay for the whole thing unless some type of emergency comes up.  The fact the Steeler game was coming on doesn't count as an emergency.
