| 5 RULES FOR TEAM 11 | ||||||||||||||||||
| < -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------> | ||||||||||||||||||
| GROUP 11 DOES NOT LIKE RULES!---BUT WE HAVE TO HAVE A FEW! 1.)Starting in October all members MUST wear their LARR team shirts on Saturdays and at races and your first name must be on the front and back. (You can customize your shirts, cut off the sleves, make them shorter, etc.---just wear them.) Beginning in October runners whose name is not known to your pace leader will be intorduced in front of the group and will need to ru at the back of the group with Linda. We will assume that runners who do not wear LARR shirts are newbies and we want to make sure that our group is the right one for you---and is not too hard. 2.)NO CUTTING IN LINE. When you line up to run, the person at your side is your "running partner" for the day. If you leave the group, please just come back to where your "running partner" is. However, if both you and your "running partner" leave at the same time, the people behind you will need to "fill in the gap.". If you BOTH leave at the same time you BOTH will need to re-join the group at the back of the line.
3.) FOLLOW COACH'S TRAINING SCHEDULE. Pace Group 11 is not a group for "lazy runners." We are serious athletes and you will not be able to keep up unless you train 4 to 5 times a week. If you can not run every day, please do SOMETHING. Be creative, go to the gym and ride the stationary bike. Or walk to a Starbucks that is 20 minutes away from you and 20 minutes back on your lunch break. This is not an ideal training session, but it is better than doing nothing!
4.) Suggestions and questions are always welcome, but "generic complaining" and "whining" does not demonstrate good sportsmanship. The most typical complaint will come from athletes who are not training during the week and are angry when they are having a hard time. Nobody wants to hear this type of complaint---especially not your team members who have been making personal sacrifices to do their mid-week training. Keep positive.
5.) [The un official "rule."] Pace group 11 begins and ends our Saturday training sessions with a warm-up and a cool-down jog. We do thos so that you will feel strong when you end your run. If you have extra energy, please ask a pace leader of you can help. [We'll find a job for you.] Otherwise, enjoy your easy cool-down knowing that next week's additional mileage will be a piece of cake! PS: Runners who need to "sprint" at the end of the run, while everyone is cooling-down look "silly." [You look like you are shouting,"Look at me! Now that you are all doing a 'recovery crawl' I can run faster than you!" (Get the picture?!) |
