Program Planning

Potential Starting Classes:

Two K strands:

40 K students
Two teachers for synergy
Add K (20) and K1 (20) in 2004

One K1 strand:
K1 (20)
Add K (20) and 1st (20) in 2004

Curriculum Planning:
  • Potential collaboration with Cupertino school district in a sister city capacity, leveraging their 4-year Mandarin Chinese immersion program.
  • Retain educational scholars on Mandarin curriculum.
  • Parent support in curriculum development.
School Location:
  • Maintain sensitivity to neighborhood.
  • Placement at lower enrollment campus could ease overcrowding at other sites.
  • Initial location needed for startup K classes.
  • Changing demographics for high density housing will require evaluating leased sites.
  • All alternative programs have moved in their history.

Location Brainstorming:

  • Ultimately a district decision.
  • Trailers at school sites.
  • Leased sites: Garland, Cubberly, Ventura, Fremont Hills.
  • K-2/3-5 split grades adds flexibility.
