CAREER OBJECTIVE:   I am seeking a progressive position in Product Research and Development.  I would like to broaden my experience developing, testing and applying new technologies.  I want to work in an environment in which I can continue to strive for excellence in my personal and professional development.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

B.Sc. Degree:    Bachelor of Science, Department of Physics and Astronomy, 1989
                         York University, Toronto, Ontario
Majoring in Applied Computational Mathematics and Physics.

Received the Ruth Hill Memorial Scholarship in 1989

Thesis Research:   The problem solving required in my graduate research has given me broad experience in, and technical knowledge of a range of programming environments. The work required excellent organizational skill, and a strong ability to learn and operate independently. High self-motivation and tenacity, throughout the project, were critical to the final success. The programming experience involved working with difficult physical and applied mathematical problems; planning effective strategies; compiling, debugging, testing and analyzing test data. All these aspects required excellent analytical abilities. I learned to work closely with others, and developed good oral and written communication skills.

RECENT EMPLOYMENT BACKGROUND
My Position:       Data Communications and Network Engineer.
Duties of my position required that I  support, design, and manage a wide variety of new systems and projects, for an international Tier-1 Automotive parts manufacturer. This occurred while the company went through a phase of extensive expansion and company acquisition over a three year period.

My major projects:    Design, fully construct and implement, a total of five computer rooms and computer networks, including WAN links.
Complete installation of four phone and paging systems, and one serial timeclock system.
Complete installation of two wireless barcoding systems, and one test lab.
Complete installation of a set of three ISDN-linked PC-based Video Conference systems.
Check and upgrade of all LAN and WAN equipment to Y2K-ready firmware.

To carry out my own duties more efficiently I set up a number of TCP/IP based servers (Syslog, SNMP, RMON, TFTP, FTP, and SNTP). These allowed me to work with, and monitor WAN and LAN equipment at all times, and ultimately to page me if failure occurs in a critical link.

COMPUTER PROFICIENCY
Operating systems: IBM DOS, OS/2, WIN 95, WIN 98, WIN NT, Novell, Digital Command Language (DCL), UNIX, AIX, XWindows, MVS/VM, Job Control Language (JCL), Roscoe
