Lantana

Sun goes down, day draws to an end

Soft fragrance in the air

Long hard day, the axe and the saw

Lantana everywhere

Would lantana listen if I asked real nice

            For it to go away?

Lantana won't listen, its roots are long

You could talk and talk till the day is done

And to ask for peace is not enough

To ask for peace is not enough

Sun goes down and the soft warm scent

Of acacia fills my soul

Maybe the winsome scent of lantana flowers

Means it's not so evil after all

And I feel the wind whisper through the trees

Its softness quite seduces me

That the fragile nests of little birds

Are protected by lantana trees

Would lantana listen if I asked real nice

            For it to go away?

            Lantana whispers with subtle words

And while you listen it spreads its seeds

And to beg for peace is not enough

To beg for peace is not enough

Sun goes down day draws to an end

Soft fragrance in the land

Long hard day, the axe and the saw

And the tearing out by hand

For lantana and power grow by the hour

And won't be talked away

Lantana leaves scars you may want to hide

But struggle gives scars to wear with pride

Let's tear war out by the roots, my friends

Lets tear war out by the roots with pride.
