The name Paani Morcha literally means Water Front, as in battle front, and has been adopted because the quest for pure water has become quite a battle in most parts of the world. In some areas over-development is stopping the natural flow of water, leading to water-logging and flooding; in other areas massive diversion of river's rich resources. are leading to the lack of ground water recharge and the pollution of rivers and ground water due to untreated sewage.

Given the existing shortages of clean water, conflicts have already started within states for this rare resource. It is also likely that nations will struggle amongst themselves for the control of inter-state rivers, which could eventually lead even to war.

With the efforts now being made by Paani Morcha, we hope to restore the natural water systems to their pristine glory. This should ensure that Mans intervention for the exploitation of this rich resource remains in consonance with nature. This would also reduce wastage and ensure optimum usage within natures framework. Efforts are also being made to:

  • Enhance water availability
  • Properly treat waste water
  • Retain water in its natural locations such as rivers, glaciers, lakes, aquifers, and roots of trees

These efforts, if successful, will improve the availability of water, the most important resource, and will oblviate the need for conflicts. It will begin to restore the ecological balance that is slowly dwindling, due to the turbid, toxic ridden waters.
