| MY QUILT |
| As I faced my Maker at the last judgement, I knelt before the Lord along with all the other souls. Before each of us laid our lives like the squares of a quilt in many piles, an angel sat before each of us sewing our quilt squares together into a tapestry that is our lives. But as my angel took each piece of cloth off the pile, I noticed how ragged and empty each of my squares were. They were filled with giant holes. Each square was labeled with a part of my life which had been difficult, the challenges and temptations I faced in every day of my life. I saw hardships which I endured with the largest holes of all. I glanced around me and nobody else had such squares. Other than a tiny hole here and there, the other tapestries were filled with rich color and the bright hues of wordly fortune. I gazed upon my life and was disheartened. My angel was sewing the ragged pieces of cloth together, threadbare and empty like air. Finally the time came when each life was to be displayed, held up to the light, the scrutiny of truth. The others rose, each in turn, holding up their tapestries. So filled their lives had been. My angel looked upon me and nodded for me to rise. My gaze dropped to the ground in shame. I had not had all the earthly fortunes. I had love in my life and laughter. But there had also been trials of illness and death, and false accuations that took from me my world as I knew it. I had to start over many times. I often struggled with the temptation to quit, only to somehow muster the strength to pick up and begin again. I spent many nights on my knees in prayer, asking for help and guidance in my life. I had often been held up to ridicule, which I indured painfully, each time offering it up to the Father in hopes thatt I would not melt within my skin beneath the judgemental gaze of those who unfairly judged me. And now, I had to face the truth. My life was what it was, and I had to accept it for what it was. I rose and slowly lifted the combined squares of my life to the light. An awe-filled gasp filled the air. I gazed around at the otheres who stared at me with wide eyes. Then, I looked upon the tapestry before me. Light flooded the many holes, creating an image, the face of Christ. Then our Lord stood before me, with warmth and love in His eyes. He said, "Every time you gave over your life to me, it became My life, My hardship, and my struggles. Each point of light in your life is when you stepped aside and let me shine through, until there was more of me than there was of you." May all our quilts be threadbare and worn, allowing Christ to shine through. DO YOU NEED JESUS IN YOUR LIFE? HAS HE FOUND A PLACE IN YOUR HEART? YOU MAY SCOFF, BUT ONE DAY YOU WILL BE BEFORE CHRIST VIEWING YOUR OWN QUILT AND WHAT WILL IT LOOK LIKE? Here is how your sins can be forgiven: 1. Believe that Jesus, the Son of God, is the only one who can take away your sins. 2. Believe that Jesus died and rose again to take the punishment for your sins. 3. Trust in Jesus as your Savior. If you believe in Jesus as your Savior you will have everlasting life. You will not go to Hell when you die. You will go to Heaven to live with Jesus forever. Everlasting life is a gift from God that no one can ever take from you. If you want Jesus to be your Savior, believe in Him now. You can tell Him in prayer about your decision. You may want to pray something like this: "Dear Lord, I know I have sinned and deserve to be punished. I believe that Jesus loves me and died on the cross to take the punishment for my sins. I now trust Jesus as my Savior. I know that I will go to Heaven someday. AMEN." Here are some things you should do once you are saved in order to become a strong Christian: 1. READ AND OBEY THE BIBLE. Read some verses every day. One to start with is Psalm 119:11 2. PRAY. Talk to God every day and when you sin remember to tell Him you are sorry and HE WILL FORGIVE YOU. Psalm 55:17. 3. ATTEND SUNDAY SCHOOL AND CHURCH. Go to Sunday School and Church every Sunday to learn more about Jesus. Psalm 122:1 4. BE BAPTIZED. Talk to your pastor about being baptized. A person should be baptized after he believes on Jesus to show others that he has trusted Jesus as his Savior. Acts 2:41 If you have any questions you may email me at [email protected] and if you are looking for a church I will help you find one. |
