Review – Midnight Oil at Lassiter’s Casino, Alice Springs 19Sep02
The Oils rocked!! Fkkn sensational! I don't think I've ever truly appreciated them before now. They're a great band. Peter Garrett aged (what, nearly) 50, up on a speaker stack singing Truganini. Classic!
I also liked the fact
that they thanked the Casino for letting them play on the lawns - by reading
out a statement regarding the significance of that piece of land for the local Arrente Aboriginal people, and then launching into Redneck Wonderland.
Gold!
The band definitely
don't look their age: except for Martin
Rotsey who now bears an uncanny
resemblance to Carl
Wilson at the time when the Beach
Boys all grew beards, wore baseball caps and untucked their
Hawaiian shirts to disguise their increasing girth. He's a great guitarist
though!
