Kavisha Mazella “Big Blue
Above”
single on ABC through EMI Music
Kavisha
Mazella has been a quiet achiever since her outspoken Invisible Indivisible release of 1994, but ABC have reintroduced us
to her on Big Blue Above, the first
single from her forthcoming “Fisherman’s
Daughter” album, produced by Michael Thomas of Weddings
Parties Anything.
Kavisha’s press tells of an
Italo-Irish-Scottish-Burmese-English-Australian upbringing with Celtic &
southern European influences in her work. They also compare her to Tracey
Chapman and Tori
Amos, but personally I hear a folk version of Wendy
Mathews. The euro-influences stand out in the Celtic-cum-Aus
trad-folk title track, while we go the whole Spanish thing with a contemporary
pop/soft rock/foxtrot B-side All I Want
Is You(an original work)
It’s been too long since we in the mainstream
have heard from Kavisha
Mazella, and this record serves both as a reminder of what has past
and a sample of things to come HHHI
