Review – Blue World “I Want Everything”

Independent single

Blue World are a five-piece quasi-nouveau pop outfit hailing from Sydney’s affluent Hills district. Their single “I Want Everything” is a small taste of things to come, but quite the radio-friendly thing it is!

There are two versions of the single hereon, the second being an unplugged/acoustic version of the lead/title track. It is a perfect MIX 106.5 tune: quiet, laid-back, ‘nice’ aor pop with excellent Stewart/Goldman 10CC overdubs which by the way are transferred well onto the live stage. The b-side Telling You is best described as Cat Stevens goes to the West Coast with his Don Walker/Hammond keyboard effects but none of those annoying alto-saxes so prone to spoil today’s adult-oriented music.

Blue World “I Want Everything” is not for everyone, me included, but has plenty of promise in the radio world. Credit where it is due, though: it is a great recording
