Review - Analog “Five Card
Stud”
independent EP
Analog are The Next Big Thing in alterna-pop music. There
- the pressure’s on now! If these five pop-gems don’t score something for this
band then I don’t know what will! “Five
Card Stud” is the latest release for the band from Sydney’s Northern-most
beachside-suburbs. With sounds that would fit on the same stage as FiniScad,
The
Early Hours, or The Humm (Little Hornet) they have
a winning formula that will take them far.
There She Goes and Behind Your Hands open the scene with classic hook-laden pop that
would fit the formatting of most of the country’s commercial radio stations. Walk Away is the formulaeic pop/rock
ballad that slides perfectly in the middle with an Austereo/Mix (TTT) feel to it, while Casino and You Bring Me Around close with a jangly Rickenbacker
feel in the former and an old Ted Mulry style with a 90s crunch to
the latter.
