Review – Thumlock “Lunar Mountain Sunrise”
mini-album
through Highbeam Music

Media said it best in his review, “30 years ago (these guys) could easily
have kidnapped the members of “Masters of
Reality” or “Paranoid”
period Black
Sabbath and gone on tour in their place without anyone being the
wiser!” The
second in a series of mini-album releases, Thumlock’s “Lunar
Mountain Sunrise” mini-album through Highbeam Music brings back the true meaning
of classic rock.
In today’s terms, the
difference between an EP and an album is a very fine line. “Lunar
Mountain Sunrise” is only 6 tracks in duration, but goes for almost
40 minutes in true roots-metal/concept album-period style. Chunky bottom-end
guitars, intricate drum fills, short vocal bursts – clean, articulate, almost
liquid-smooth vocals they are too – in favour of guitar virtuosity… it could
well be Sabbath or Hawkwind or Blue
Cheer on this record, but it is in fact four Northern Wollongong
Beaches boys doing it as only Wollongongers do –
heavy and hard (ergo Tumbleweed, Segression, Circus Zombies).
“Lunar Mountain Sunrise” pumps – check out
the band’s website to find out how you can get a hold of volume one, or find
out when the next release is due. If yours is the true metal, yours will be Thumlock ««««
