Review – Temporal Lobe “Humanfleshandsoundwaves” CD EP

The second of two CDs sent from the Fat City Kitty music stables, the first being the debut from industrial beatsmeisters Circle Clan, so with a title like “Humanfleshandsoundwaves” and being unfamiliar as I was with Temporal Lobe I expected more industrial electronica… Wrong… wrong and wrong! Seems the Stoner Rock age is returning, with Temporal Lobe right at the forefront with Thumlock, Queens Of The Stone Age and the like.

But good things don’t happen overnight, as Damien, Joel and Richo will testify. Theirs has been a long trek, though not without its highlights, which include local and National awards and radio play in ’98 & ’99, as well as support spots for acts as diverse as Karma County, Custard, FULL, Iota, Not From There, Matthew (Tall Tales And True) De La Hunty, Elephant Gun and Testeagles. “Humanfleshandsoundwaves” shows the same diversity; with the driving grind of Untold Until Now and OCD surrounding the laid back sincerity of January, as the prime example.

Many an applause has been lauded on Temporal Lobe over this, their second release in as many years (although 2000 still goes unrepresented) so with the Stoner Rock revival happening maybe it’s time for something new… but take your time guys! I’ll be adding this one to the personal playlist and don’t want it superseded too quickly!
