Review - Superheist "Karma"

single on Shagpile through Shock!

From their debut EP "Chrome Matrix" on then-fledgling Cut Throat Records to their latest release "Karma" as a taster for their forthcoming debut album on Shagpile Records through Shock!, I have had one other experience with Superheist, which was their live show at Sydney's Iron Duke Hotel in November 1998 with Nunchukka Superfly, Jim Cobain and one of The Hard Ons first return spots. But I still call myself a fan, despite the leanings away from the technology, thrashing and experimentation that I so enjoyed about that first outing.

"Karma" shows a band who, although categorisation from the outset was almost out of the question, still scored high-level support spots from the likes of Fear Factory, Sepultura and more locally Segression and Alchemist. Now we have a band who have stuck with the hard-guitar chunk of the more-commercial hard-edged outfits like late Faith No More and the less aggressive Rage Against The Machine and even Koяn that was my experience at the last live show (which hopefully won't be my last either!)

"Eight Miles High" is the name of the forthcoming album from Superheist on Shagpile through Shock! and from the growth I have witnessed in this band the album promises nothing like what we've seen but everything we've been waiting for
