Review – F.U.L.L. “Hello”

EP on Noise-A-Thon Records

While wanting to avoid a back-to-back review of all of F.U.L.L.’s back-catalog, the strength of each collection just kept me coming back for more. With each outing the band grew musically, edging the punter on for ‘just one more’. Here on their latest recording, they have delivered once again and for a change have included a cover-song.

Parade, Get Somewhere and Unsane actually disappoint with their apparent lack of power (compared to all other F.U.L.L. releases to date), but this is all quickly dispelled by Sweet, Hello and Love My Way – while this is a track-list nightmare as far as I am usually concerned, the power-loss isn’t as bad as it is with other zig-zag-type records I have panned previously. The band’s growth through this record seems to have been through experimenting with more new sounds and techniques: away from the full-on in-ya-face ferocity which bordered on extra-heavy hard rock that has been the case in the past; and more toward the pop end of the rock genre...

Love My Way rounds the disc off with a great rendition of the Psychedelic Furs fave, and once again leaves the listener coming back for more. The positive criticism will only continue in the wake of this record and provided enough coverage can be given to their upcoming shows, live success on this side of the country will follow!
