Review -Frenzal Rhomb "Racist"
 single on Shagpile thru Shock

In the current musical clime of The Living End, Rancid, The Offspring and Greenday heading the world-wide Charge of the Nouveau Punk Brigade comes "Rasict" from Frenzal Rhomb on Shagpile through Shock! The release is set to herald the band’s return from a successful trip to the States where, it is said, many a band-threatening event took place, and the beginning of a relentless summer festival schedule for the boys.

It is not the A-side, which would sit comfortably in the middle of a non stop block of the aforementioned bands, that is doing the rounds on Sydney radio and the Youth Network at the moment. It’s the current trend (which is wearing ve-er-ry thin!!) for radio to pick up and flog a cover version that has one of the B-sides of this single, the note-perfect-with-typical-FR-ending piss-take of Starship’s We Built This City on mid- to high-rotation, adding our fine fettered Frenzals to the radio for the first time since Mum Changed The Locks (which is also here, recorded live on the Js in May this year).

Friends of Rhomb will be happy to know that the band survived all attempts at trying to break them up. They will also be seeking this single out for Built This City alone. "Racist" (either the album-version lead-track or the live at the wireless third track) and Mum Changed The Locks (live at the wireless as well) would be reason enough for fans and punters alike to check it out
