Review - Elephant Gun “Elephant Gun”
EP on Roadrunner Records through Sony Music
The
lights go down, the song begins, the lighters go up... welcome to Elephant
Gun’s self-titled debut EP on Roadrunner Records through Sony Music.
This record entrances from the opening
bass-synth harmonics of One Cold Hour. Laced with sounds as far apart as Rage Against The Machine, Porno
for Pyros, Fauves
and Sidewinder,
but mainly Tea Party, Cult,
and Horsehead, this recording
came about not long after the band had a name, let alone officially formed! It
fills a lot of gaps in the Australian alternative-music spectrum - it’s heavy, moody, poppy, dark...
it’s everything the aforementioned bands are, were, could be or might have
been.
“Elephant Gun” -
“big, open ended, with a bottomless booming depth”. In fewer words - Elephant
Gun kick arse! «««««
