Review - Bodyjar “Strange Harvest”

CD EP on Shagpile through Shock!

“Strange Harvest” is the new 7-track CD-EP from Melbourne nouveau-punksters Bodyjar. This sweaty & shirtless foursome hail from the same mould that brings most offerings by Spiderbait, Frenzal Rhomb, Green Day, The Ramones, The Offspring but with somewhat of a commecial bent here & there (namely in the opener You Say and in the live closer Glossy Books). In between, however, the team is let down a bit, like in the “slightly heavier” rendition of They Might Be Giants Racist Friend - sorry, but I missed the calypso feel altogether!

There are a number of bands treading this type of board today; many to the acclaim of overseas punters. Bodyjar are one of the better-known exponents. The album, out later this month, is hoped to be a wider selection of studio stuff to entice more of the music buying public.
