Review - Angels “My Light Will Shine”
EP on Shock! Records
Angels explore old sounds, re-invent new mixtures and come up with some
interesting new concepts on their new “My
Light Will Shine” EP through Shock!
The
title/opening track is an acoustic-based almost-Be With You thing, while The Push Is On comes over all Rolling
Stones but retains the acoustic feel and brushes. Mail Order Bride introduces the first
new-sound to those of us not privy to “Skin
and Bone”. Wasteland (early version)
appears as a mix of pre-Brian Johnson ACDC
and Angels’
classic Marseilles with Dark Roomesque lead breaks. Cut The Grass
is a fast almost-country rock track with punk vocals, but a song about lawnmowing? That’s as rock & roll as
bagpipes!
“My Light Will Shine” is an
excellent example of where Angels
were going in the creation of their independent “Skin and Bone” from earlier this year. Even if you have the album,
this release will be a great addition to the collection and an expansion of Angels’
new direction ««««
