Review - 59 Times the Pain "End Of The Millennium"
album on Burning Heart Records through Shock!

Those who attended the 1998 Surf Skate Slam festival will be familiar with 59TTP's attitude and in-your-face “fuck yers - fuck yers all” delivery (in Swedish English). Those who didn’t have the album "End Of The Millennium" on Burning Heart through Shock! instead.

It may be the end of the millennium for us but for 59TTP it's the beginning of their new world. But surely this new world has something happy in it to shout about, instead of the hatred, despair and anger that fuels this album. "End Of The Millennium" is 13 tracks running at not-quite 28 minutes, with frenzied vocals that maintain the same rage throughout. The band, on the other hand, plays quite musically and melodically behind these rabid screams, more so than most of their hard-core colleagues today.

Stand out tracks include those that smack you in the face with their fast paced brevity and finish with a 'What the hell was that?' from the listener/victim, Me Against The World, Make It Go Away, Broken Unity, Clear Enough and the 1'15" epic Priority #1. There's also their tribute or sequel to The Ramones “Rock & Roll High School”, all grown up and pissed off at the Punk Rock College, and the Triple-J added Weakend Revolution, complete with synthesised pop-hand claps.

59TTP "End of the Millennium" album on Burning Heart through Shock! Four very angry young men hell-bent on creating some seriously heavy mosh fodder
