Review - Lee Kernaghan "Hat Town"

album on ABC Music through EMI Records

It’s hard to put words together about Lee Kernaghan’s new album “Hat Town” on ABC through EMI, save for that it is a shining example of why the man is where he is today. It certainly is well worth the wait since 1995’s “1959”!

“Hat Town” is twelve tracks of fun, rocking and haunting music featuring close harmonies and exceptional musical depth from right across the spectrum of Country music in Australia today. This is very definitely not more of what we already have on the other three records: the subject matter (cars, leaving this dead-end town, love, death) is the same, but that’s what life in the country is all about! The most memorable moments of the album are Goondiwindi Moon featuring Trisha Yearwood; A Few of Us Left, Changi Banjo and Gettin’ Gone.

The team of Porter/Kernaghan/Buchanan have outdone themselves yet again! HHHHH
