Review - Utopian Babies “Fanfare”

single on Village Roadshow through Warners

We were first introduced to Utopian Babies by way of the Brian May support spot in October last year. Unfortunately for the guys the older crowd wasn’t quite into them, although their performance wasn’t effected by this. More recently though, crowds have been going completely-off during the Noiseworks reunion tour, so time has come to introduce them to the rest of the world by way of their new album “Nothing In Moderation” and the new single from it “Fanfare” on Roadshow through Warners.

I remember the guys as a forward-moving guitar pop/rock outfit hell-bent on world domination through their quasi-FiniScad style. Fanfare might just help them along, but not as much as the single-closer One of These Days. The overall presentation of the single would be just as at-home on the Js, Ms or 96.1, which might garner them a little more addition and a few more of their own gigs.
