Review - Us Not Them “Wailing Bizarre” independent album

There is no pretence about Us Not Them’s debut album “Wailing Bizarre” - Chloë & Jason Roweth’s style is bare bones, stripped-right-back acoustic guitar & vocals, with a little additional vocal from Jason here & there. This is music (save for the rockin’ boogie of Going Home, the anger of Four Wheels, and the regret of Oberon Lament) that reminds me of the coffee shops in the Mountains between here & their hometown of Bathurst. Chloë’s vocals are strong, akin to Deb Conway in places, Jason’s guitaring is accomplished, the harmonies timely and the songs describe life in that part of the world between Windermere, Canobolis and Jenolan, but there is plenty of room for growth.
