Review - G’rimace "Peppercorn"
EP on Turbo Bich Records through MRA Group

It was excellent to see the name G’rimace on a recent new-release catalog, so soon after reviewing their independent Mr Alternative demo. There was a definite direction indicated by that tape which has been followed with no deviation on their debut EP "Peppercorn" on Turbo Bich Records through MRA.

These four young Sydney kids aren’t afraid of displaying their black-American pop-culture roots, from the homie/rapper with the world’s biggest afro on the cover to the dig/Rockmelons/RHCP/Quadbox/Parkside Killers/Mike Patten era Faith No More meld of funk rappin’ hip-hop rock on the four tracks which included Peppercorn and an instrumental version of Animal from the original demo. The boyz have come one helluva long way and they have further to go, but already they’re up there with the best Sydney has (had) to offer, especially on Get Up.

From the story of how the band got together to the delivery of the raps and the playing on each of these songs, whether or not G’rimace make it in this world won’t matter to either of them: they’re hip, they’re with it and they thoroughly enjoy life and the road they’ve set themselves onto. "Peppercorn", on Turbo Bich Records through MRA Group, will definitely set them on a course to something big
