Review -Front End Loader “Summer Hits”

single on Shagpile thru Shock

Ah - the sounds of the summer of my youth: Police (Outlandos de Blanc Mondatta), Australian Crawl (Boys Light Up), Cold Chisel (East)...a combination of all of the above make up the sound of one of the outstanding songs off Front End Loader’s “Last of the V8 interceptors” album on Shagpile through Shock. Even before the release arrived at my office it had quickly shunted Pulse from rotation at the Jays.

They’ve opted for a totally unplaceable sound on the next two tracks: Gods Own Catapult and It’s Time to Rip the Crud combine rock, metal, punk (attitude) and the pop of Summer, being sharpened a bit for Crud. The Intolerable Burden of Expectation has FEL coming over all TISM for a dodgy close.

Overall, it would appear that a new direction has been taken for Summer after the debacle that was the Pulse single. HHH˝
