Review - Front End Loader “Pulse”
single on Shagpile through Shock!
Front End Loader have a new single “Pulse” on Shagpile through Shock! It’s
not what I’d have expected (having been involved with Australian New Music
since 1993 I had until now not heard a Front End Loader record.)
The lead/title track is a heavy jazz/rock fusion of sorts.
Then Fuck You Guys promises to get
little to no airplay anywhere... musically it’s a hotch-potch:
a jam they decided to record with little to no effect. And then there’s the
title. It’s OK - They’re Cool follows
as its antithesis - an almost “classic” riff over some weaving Gillamesque vocals and Rolling Stones b/vox. Hmmm...The G Song
closes the effort with some typical “indie” sounds of
the late 70s/early 80s. Good One!
OK - so there’s Front End Loader’s new single, the
lead track being from the Shagpile album “The
Last of the V8 Interceptors”. I’m still none the wiser about the band and
hesitant to attend a gig. I’ll need some more convincing.
