Review - diana Ah naid “Leaving The Country”

single on Origin Records through mDs

Those of you whose exposure to diana Ah naid has been limited to her successful debut I Go Off will be more than surprised by her new single “Leaving The Country” on Origin Records. Those who have been keeping your ears open for other work by this Northern NSW songstress will also be surprised by this Janice Ianesque string quartet+guitar piece.

The Loupous Maximus mix is an ambient jazz version of the single, while the Turbulence Mix goes against diana’s (apparent) dislike of today’s dance music. The other track, Flowers, featured regularly on The Js earlier this year. It combines the anger of the first single with the ambience of this one, using a vibrophone (effect) and Tiddas-like harmonies.
