Review – Circle Clan self-titled CD EP

Adelaide is often a forgotten city when it comes to musical origins, but when reminded of names like Cold Chisel, Testeagles, The Mark Of Cain, Juju Eyeballs and Wishbone one soon sees the diversity of influences that emanate from that town. Add, now, to that list the name Circle Clan, an industrial dance/rock outfit whose November 1999 debut has finally made it across the Hay Plain and onto the Music Reviews review desk.

Circle Clan has been evolving into what we have now over a two-year period, and the current line-up has just over twelve months under their belt. The winning formula that is now two Pauls, Nathan, Chris and Pagey has not gone unrecognised within the South Australian music industry either; this CD being the result of State Government funding. Local radio has been quick to pick up this mix of iNsurGe, early Caligula and Dogmachine fronted by almost-but-not-quite [lead vox] Placebo across Victoria and SA, and the stand-out opening track Girl In A Coma is sure to win more addition on a wider basis once put in the right faces on the East Coast and/or supported accordingly.

By the way, the website at http://www.circleclan.8m.com/ has moved to a new site which, at the time of writing, was under construction but from the pic there it seems they have the important stuff (the stage show & music) under control, which is the main thing!
