You know, what ever...
Entry for July 31, 2006

I figured I should post a review of my rs pro-2052                                    On the pro side it has 20 banks of 50 channels. Thats a thousand. S.A.M.E. wx function, good sensitivity and selectivity , triple conversion. It also has retractable rubber front feet. Its easy to program, you can also program and operate the pro-2052 from a p.c.   It has a wide frequency coverage all the way to 1.3GHz excluding cellular. The limit search feature is very handy.  Lots of online support including an online owners manual. It has a rich full sound from the top mounted speaker, and the pro-2052 looks pretty cool. Also if you can still find one the're affordable from $100.00 to $150.00

On the con side the pro-2052 does not have a few things that are missed. First of all it has no alpha tags...That sucks! Also no signal meter. It says its a dual trunking unit but I wouldnt know since I cant get the unit to pick up the 800MGHz signals from the neighboring counties, about 20 miles away NOTE: Reception on high vhf bands is fantastic, Ive recieved clear signals from base stations well over 100 miles away on a 35' high mounted external antena. The pro-2052 is not designed to be a mobile unit. Not much comes in the box other than the unit the owners manual the ac power cord and the dinky stock antena. no dc cord, no pc interface cable and this will really put sand in your crack , on some bands the frequency step is to large or to small and is not ajustable. Especialy apparent in the 900MHz range.

Over all I give the pro-2052 a 7 out of ten it is an excellent unit for vhf hi band coverage and thats the main reason I bought it.
