The Smoker's Conundrum

Playing with the oldest Surreal tradition, that of taking things and making them outsized, and having realised that tobacco use was suddenly becoming a very unpopular thing to do, I purchased this little box with the horrid jail front on it at the local Hobby Lobby in a clearance bin. The three-legged chair which at one point had an unfortunate accident and lost two legs was bought from the local K&B store in a clearance section of dollhouse furniture. I fell in love with that marvelous red velvet look, and matched with the oak coloured interior of the chamber I felt that it really gave that old English smoking room feel. The pipe was a Dr. Grabow, because they're very cheap and also available at K&B, which is now Rite Aide. Same place, same stuff. This one cost me very little to make, and is one of my favourites, even though it's had a hard life. The tiny dollhouse doorknob was also lost, in the move to the new house.
