At the time I was fresh out of working in a toy store, and had just started working for a high-end audio/home theater company in town, and I still had memories of the doll aisle at Toys and what could be found there, as well as finding out what sort of neat goodies I could get into in the repair shop at work. The doll body was from a lifelike model, I cannot remember the name but they ran about $20 as I recall, and they are, as you can see, strangely lifelike. This is the second Poupee I built; this time I decided not to install a light in it's head and thought I might go with some capacitors, resistors, plug, and whatever else I could lay my hands on. At the time the working title was something like "Child of the 21st Century" or something equally foolish like that, but he ended up just being "la Poupee II."

Detail The face, showing some of the eye detail.

Detail The back. The funniest part of this sculpture is that I ended up canabalizing it for parts for my own equipment as things went wrong or I needed a plug or adapter. When art can be useful too you know you've hit some sort of new high. The keys across the back used to spell out "BOY."
