Portugal

For years before Columbus set sail for the New World, explorers looked out from Portugal's Cape St. Vincent, the southwestern most point in Europe, and figured that just over the horizon lay the edge of the world.

'The City'

When you refer to "The City", you really are referring only to New York. A very, very small part is seen looking toward the East River from the Empire State Building.

Stonehenge

Stonehenge

Dating to 3100 B.C., with evidence of excavation put at about 8000 B.C., whether Stonehenge is an ancient temple or celestial clock, it is a gathering place for neo-Druids.
The race starts
Ensenada: In the beginning

Baja, baby, Baja

It's been called the most famous race no one has ever seen. One thousand
Fansmiles nonstop down the ruggedly beautiful Baja Peninsula -- eating dust all the way from Ensenada to La Paz. Hundreds start in million-dollar trophy trucs, open-wheel desert racers, Baja Bugs, motorcycles, ATVs, even stock VW Beetles. Few finish, but those that do are winners by that accomplishment alone. It's the Baja 1000. Maybe, some day.

And, to decompress after the tortuous race, drive 45 minutes across the peninsula to Todos Santos on the Pacific Coast. Life is much more relaxed in the old pueblo of about 7,000 welcoming residents that is home to many artisans and artists. Todos Santos cowboys
