I am a monster. I could have killed Anya. I don't blame her for being afraid of me. I wonder what I am as well...
Act 4: The Dark Secret
I hid myself away in the depths of the jungle, so as not to bring harm to anyone else. I don't know what I have become, but I will seal it away so no more lives will be destroyed. I know I will never be happy again, but at least I have put an end to it all...
That night, I heard the voices again. They cried out in such pain that it almost tore me apart.
Please! Why won't you help us?! Please!
"NO! I won't! Leave me alone!"
You can't hide forever! You have to help us!
They knew??? How? How could they know that? I then knew that this wasn't a cry for help. It was all a trick.
"Why do you torment me?! What have I done for this?! Leave me alone!!!" I shouted out. It was silent afterwads. I felt so cold and I was starting to wonder if it was just a dream.
You do not understand what your true purpose is yet. Why vex yourself with it?
I didn't understand what it meant... Yet, I knew it wanted me for a reason. I began to shout out again "I will not go anywhere until you tell me what you want from me!" I demanded. A loud crash of thunder blasted out of the sky. A bolt of lightning struck right before me as it hurtled me into a nearby tree.
FOOL! We said it does not concern you, yet you are stubbon enough to question us! All that is left to say is to go East!
I woke up in the rain. I was soaked but I didn't care. What bothered me was what the voices demanded of me. I just want to be at peace. I felt the back of my head and felt a bump. It seemed like it was no dream after feeling it. I went over to where I had stood in my dream and saw the mark where the bolt struck. I turned around, and to my surprize, I saw the tree that I crashed into was broken. I decided that if the voices wanted me to go east, I will go. If it would stop the maddeness, then I will go to stop this at once.
I walked out of the jungle I was in and reached the shores. I took notice of a shelter by the foot of the jungle. Was Anya still here? I did leave her by the beach with nothing. I do hope she is fine...
I looked into the shelter to find Anya. She was cold and shivering from the rain. I had to take her from this place or she will surely die. I hoisted her into my arms as I ventured into the jungle.
The jungle was lush and I didn't find any sign of civilization. I wondered if I could even find anyone to help Anya. As I was about to lose hope, I found a clearing where an old ruin stood. I began to wonder where we were. Was this land previously a home to an ancient tribe? It would be a better bet to stay in these ruins until I knew what to do next.
I took Anya into what looked like an old shrine. It was the only place I saw that had a roof in tact. I looked out into the ruins wondering what I should do next. There was so many questions in my head that it began to bring more questions as well. I was so confused about what the voices told me that it started to get to me.
"Ruben?"
It was Anya. She had finally woke up. I turned around to see she was concerned for me.
"Where are we? It looks real old," she asked. I wasn't too sure myself, but I would give her a straight answer.
"I'm not too sure. It will keep us out of the rain for now," I responded. Anya nodded back to me as she began to explore her surroundings. She seemed to be okay with me, regardless of what she said I had done. I had to know what she was thinking...
"Are you... Scared of me?" I asked. She paused for a moment then walked over to me.
"I was... But when I look into your eyes now, I don't see that bad side you showed," she explained. I wasn't too sure of this... Bad side I showed on the ship, but I assumed that the same voices that are leading me east had something to do with it. However, I accepted her answer as I continued to stare out into the rain.
It got dark sooner than I thought. I didn't mind this, yet it was what made me think. Am I going to be ready for what awaits me in the east? What is waiting for me out there? And what will become of me? So many thoughts continued to pour into my mind like a flood, it began to enrage me. I decided if these voices wanted me, they will have me. At least my nightmares will end and I can reclaim what is left of my sanity. As I was about to lay myself to rest, I began to notice a light from what appeared to be an altar.
The altar had a marble finish to it and two candlesticks from each side. Before the altar stood someone in robes. I couldn't make out the face for it was hooded. As I watched another robed figure came from behind me to kneal before the altar. It startled me as to who this person was and why I didn't feel their presence before. As the two knealed before the altar, a sudden chill came in and surrounded the room. I trembled while witnessing this. What was happening?
The candles were blown out as a new figure appeared hovering over the two. They lifted their hands to the unknown being as if to give it praise. Was this being a god? It began to speak to them. I could not believe my ears...
Let it be known that there will be a chosen warrior to end the wrath of Ti-Rah. This warrior has power beyond anything imagined. Yea, though this warrior is strong, he cannot harness his power. Be wary of this warrior, for he is a lost lamb in the valley of shadows. He must know of his destiny...
Ti-Rah? Am I dreaming? I was stunned. I couldn't move. And I couldn't speak. I just stood there feeling cold inside... Is this... My destiny?
