Chapter 2: Gathering of Time

The planet of Gemini was in quite more of a twin planet since it shared its atmosphere with the other. The left planet is known as the Brother and the right is the Sister. It is still a wonder how this doesn't conflict with their center of gravity. Right now, it didn't matter to Peter. His mission was to deliver cargo and get paid.
"Have the contacts been hailed?" he asked his communications officer.
"Yes, sir. They will be expecting us at the agreed location," she replied.
The Outsider was about to make its way to the planet. The ship is a rather unique model than anything that was built. Its cargo could hold half a city in storage. However it makes for a rather slow ride. Mainly it is used to ship multiple shipments of cargo to where it needs to go.
The ship landed in a rather interesting locale. The area was a field far from civilization. The only structure was a small research facility. As landing was confirmed, Peter was ready with his orders. "Alright. let's get the cargo set up for delivery. Turbo. Carla. You're with me. Everyone else is on standby for departure," he said as he left the bridge.

The three left the ship and entered the facility. It was a wonder of unknown science that left Turbo and Carla in awe. Peter was lightly impressed since he was only interested in the money. They had arrived in the lobby which had an unusual display in the center. "Whoa! What is this thing?" Turbo wondered as he was about to touch it.
"Something that will breach contract if you even think about it!" Peter snapped back. Turbo pulled his hand back knowing not to do anything that would jeoperdize payment. The head professor had come up to the three while Peter was lecturing his children. "Welcome, my friends. I trust you have the supplies?" he asked with utmost interest.
"Only if the price is right, sir," Peter responded. The professor nodded as he motioned the three to follow. Turbo was still curious as to what the odd statue was.
"What is that thing in the lobby?" he asked. The proffesor looked back at it.
"It was suppose to be what you humans call a time machine. However, it became too complex to complete. I'm sure that when future research is discovered, we can actually finish our project,"
All but Peter was impressed about the machine. Carla knew that Peter was stern about missions, but he showed even less interest about the time machine. She decided to investigate. "Captain? I know we're only here for business, but you just seem cold to the idea of a time machine," she said.
Peter turns to her knowing she wants some kind of an answer. "It's plain and simple... Been there, done that," he replied. It gave confusion to Carla as to what he meant.
"What does that mean? Has he been to the past?" she wondered...

Present time...

It was a warm reception for Peter when he went back to the Night Brigade Centre. However, the only person he wanted to see was out on assignment. He knew the position of leader would have drawbacks, but he knew his father was doing what he does for a better world... Just like him.
Dinner was just a blessing to Peter as he sat down with the others to a home cooked meal. "I almost forgot how delicious your cooking is auntie," he said to Samantha. To Peter, the members of the Night Brigade were just like family.
"Well I knew you'd say that, so you're getting seconds, young man," she jestered. Peter chuckled at the remark. He missed the faces of family members. He knew that he was adopted, but the Night Brigade treated him as a member of a family. "When is my dad coming?" he asked.
Sam looked at hs watch before he replied. "He checked in a while ago. I'm sure he'll jes' walk up in a moment,"
After a while, the meal was finished. Peter was a little concerned since his father still didn't appear. There was no answer from him and he didn't like it. "What was his route?" he asked the others. Gator, who was in front of the TV, stood up and went over to Peter. "Try route 4K. That was through Fisherman's Warf," he instructed. Peter nodded as he was about to head off.
"Hold it!" Eric said grabbing his shoulder. Peter turned to him wondering why he stopped him. "Take this with you," he said holding an official Night Brigade Comm-Link Badge. Peter was a bit hesitant since he didn't accept his father proposal of being the next leader of the Night Brigade force. However, it was only to get in touch with home base in case there was trouble.

Peter reached the warf after recieving the Comm-Link. It was a little deserted on the sidewalk but traffic made up for it. "Where are you, dad?" he asked himself as he continued down the way. Peter had reached the Embarcadero area when he sensed bad vibes from behind him. He turned quickly to try to scare off any street punks, but nobody was there. "I need to settle down. Why get a heart attack at my age?" he thought as he progressed further. Peter soon made his way to Peir 39. To his surprize, it was deserted. Normally, People are surrounding this attraction for its stores and the view of Alcatraz. "What is going on here?" he thought as went into the main enterance. "I don't like what I'm feeling here. And it starting to get to me. Maybe I need a little backup on this," He stopped in his tracks and decided to call back for help...

In the Past...

The ruins were very advanced for ancient times. But it didn't matter to Peter as he ventured into the past. He seemed more focused on the temple in the middle of this structure. It seemed to be the only building that was in tact after so many years. Peter was about to enter the temle when he noticed a star almost striking his foot. "HEY!" he shouts out as he turns to the right. A lone warrior stands on the stone pillar with his arms crossed. "You do not deserve to view what is in the temple! Please leave!" he shouts.
"You're kidding! I didn't come for miles to just walk away! But I did hope it would get interesting, Andy!" he said revealing his attacker.
"You leave me no choice, old friend. Let us begin," he said as he leaped from the pillar. He unsheaths his sword and swipes his sword to the ground. A dust of sand rises up after the impact. As it settles, Andy kneals with his sword in the sand. Peter was nowhere to be found. "Where are you?" he asks himself. Suddenly, Andy barely dodges Peter's kick from behind as he is in a barrage of kicks by Peter. he manages to avoid all but the one that knocks his sword from his hand. The sword implants itself into the threshold of the temple. As the two continue to fight, the ground begins to shake. Peter halts as he wonders what is happening. "This doesn't look good! What is..." he is interrupted by a fist to the face and a well placed side kick to the temple. Peter falls to the ground as Andy stands over him. "You may leave now! You have failed," he said coldly.
Peter glares at him for a moment as his attention now is turned to the temple as it violently shakes. "If I'm leaving..." he grabs Andy by the shoulders. "I'm taking you with me!" he teleports them out of the ruins to a high spot to view the ruins. Andy shoves Peter after they land on the spot. "What is wrong with you!? My sword was still there!" he shouts.
"Take a look out there! The temple looks like it was gonna explode!" he answers back pointing to the ruins. Andy witnessed the temple rising up to reveal a new structure below it. It was more of a pyramid but with a different appeal of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. "This is not good," Andy says in disbelief. Then he is punched in the face and dropped to the ground. "WHAT WAS THAT FOR!?" he shouts out.
"That's for the cheap shot earlier!" Peter replies. "But why did it react to your sword like that?"
Andy stands up wipes imself off and adjusts his jaw. "The temple is a type of gateway to another world. It was secretly disguised as a treasure room to conceal its true purpose. I'm assuming my sword is a type of key that has awakened it from a long slumber,"

Peter is a little surprized by Andy's information. "You're telling me that thing is some kind of time machine?" he asks. Andy nodds back. Then Peter's eyes glare back at the temple. "Do you think anyone can go through it?" he says in an awkward tone. Andy catches on to his idea as he preps himself for another fight. "I won't allow you to, Bandit! What makes you think you can get through me?" he threatens.
Peter looks back at Andy with a sly look. "What makes you think you can catch me?" he answers back as he disappears in a cloud of sand. Andy stands hopelessly as Peter makes his way to the pyramid...

Peter stands at the foot of the pyramid as he grinns with delight. "I wonder what happens in the future," he says to himself. "Guess there's one way to find out,"
He dashes up to the top where the main enterance is and steps inside. Suddenly, a bright light flashes as it begins to engulf the horizon in a blinding light. Andy covers his eyes as he is in disbelief. "WHY!!!!?" he shouts out wishing he knew why Peter wanted to meet his death...
