This type of thing is actually one of the worst problems with Sonic Adventure as the adventure fields and the long drawn out cinemas slow down Sonic Adventures pace, I actually like having some story to the game but it's unfair to be forced to watch a cinema you've already seen twenty times before just to so you can replay through the main game again. The adventure fields aren't a big complaint for me because I didn't mind the ability to freely roam around and use the characters abilities but many people didn't and I can understand that it is quite a departure from Sonic's of the past. Despite all of this Sonic Adventure is definitely worth renting and if you really like Sonic it is worth a purchase. Quite a pity though that after Sonic finally gets his evolution to 3D that Sega has been forced out of the console market of course Sega made sure Sonic Adventure 2 was one of the final games for the Dreamcast but it's still hard to believe we'll never see Sonic blazing a trail on a Sega made console ever again. This one is a must rent, possibly a purchase if your a true fan of Sonic and can put up with it's faults. Review by Preston Kilday |
