Fatality......
Mortal Kombat 3 for the Gameboy is a port of a already poor console game to a even weaker system, which should give you some idea where this game stands.A lot of compromises had to be made to get this game ported to the LCD Gameboy the game has less then half the roster from the console versions consisting of the console mainstays except Liu Kang the star of nearly all of the MK's is strangely absent. They did manage to squeeze in the rendered characters from the console version (of the characters that are still in the game) but at a major cost, the framerate is atrocious the gameboy has had rendered character done right by RARE with the Donkey Kong Land games but MK3 shows the Gameboys age in hardware more then almost any other game I've played on the system. Not to mention the lack of enough buttons (which isn't completely the games fault) to perform no more then a punch and a kick this coupled with the bad framerate make MK3 pretty much unplayable this is one of the shining reasons why the current Mortal Kombats are laughed at this game should have never been ported to the Gameboy. I got this game for $1.50 in a garage sale and that still seems a bit much unless you get it for 50 cents or free don't even bother trying to get this MK3, buy a used SNES or Genesis and get MK2 if your jonesing for a good Mortal Kombat game as this one is best left on the shelf. I'd give it a 0 but i'll give them credit that the game at least turns on.. Review By Preston Kilday |
